Weekly Tezos usage trend report

This is the Weekly Tezos blockchain trend report, by The Stack Report. We cover the risers and fallers for the core tezos chain usage metrics such as transactions, active wallets and contract usage. On a weekly basis this report compares week-over-week daily averages. Charts are interactive and can be zoomed out to get a full chain view from launch up till now.

Calculations in text based on data up to Sunday September 25, 2022, comparing the week from Monday September 19, 2022 to Sunday September 25, 2022 and the week before, from Monday September 12, 2022 to Sunday September 18, 2022.

Trends temporarily downward after protocol upgrade

Many overall transaction metrics are trending downward significantly week over week, while contract-to-contract transactions remains level. On September 23, 2022 the Tezos blockchain upgraded to the Kathamandu protocol version. It appears that this might have broken some technical dependency in the payout software used by bakers.

Reward payout towards delegators happens on a regular interval every 2.8 days, creating a distinct cyclical pattern in the number of transactions on the Tezos chain. The last peak before the upgrade was on september 21. Then a new peak would have happened on the 24th but seems to be missing. On september 26 a peak happened again so it seems the issue was resolved quite quickly.
